8 wedding ceremony songs to consider

Ok, I’ve been doing my research trying to find some song suggestions from the norm for my 2017 brides. I got totally absorbed when trying to find these ones for you and it’s definitely been one of my more enjoyable blog posts to write.

There are some fantastic options out there – and I’ve managed to find a few of them for you for this post (surprisingly, none of these are new either).

I often get anxious mails from brides (and sometimes grooms!) telling me they love a certain song but it’s not on my list and they’re worried it won’t fit the tone of the ceremony anyway. Firstly, my sample list is just that, a sample of the most popular requests. I actually love doing songs that are out of the norm so just ask – if we can make it work for the ceremony we will!

In summary, my message for this post is this; don’t  be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to your ceremony music. In most cases, when a song is tastefully done, it can fit very well into your ceremony.

Here are some I think are great and could work really well. Let me know if you love or hate them!

EDWARD SHARPE AND THE MAGNETIC ZEROS: SIMPLEST LOVE

I just love the simplicity of this one, and the message speaks for itself. Just gorgeous.

JAMES BAY: IF I AIN’T GOT YOU

I’ve done the Alicia version so many times – but I just love the guitar on this one, and his voice pretty much melts me.

TURNING PAGE: SLEEPING AT LAST

I’m not quite sure why this one doesn’t get requested more. Another beauty from Twilight ( A Thousand Years being in my top 5 requested songs) the piano and strings just hit me right in the feels. The lyrics are stunning, but even the piano on its own is just perfect for a candle ceremony section. Apologies in advance but I’m definitely going to be recommending this one a lot more!

RAY LA MONTAGNE: HOLD YOU IN MY ARMS

This man can just do no wrong in my eyes.

HALL & OATES : YOU MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUE

I’ve done this one before and I love it. It’s one I’d recommend for a recessional only (for church ceremonies and civil ceremonies) but what an upbeat feel good one for ending your ceremony on!

ADELE: LOVE SONG

Although there’s no arguing with this lady’s talent, I wouldn’t be a huge Adele fan myself so hadn’t heard her cover of The Cure’s Lovesong. Absolutely fell in love with it when Kate (one of my 2017 brides) requested it.

MELANIE LAURENT: FIN

This imo would be fab as an entrance (if you’re the type of bride who prefers a more classic walk up the aisle without vocals).  It would also make a great candle ceremony or gift offertory piece too.

LEON BRIDGES: COMING HOME

I think this would be great for a civil ceremony recessional.

That’s my roundup for the moment. I hope you like them and if you have any questions or indeed any suggestions, feel free to shout me on here, I’d love to hear from you.
